Simon Atkinson is an educational developer. He has been Head of eLearning at the University of Hull since July 2003 and is also currently Interim Head of the Centre for Learning Development. Prior to joining Hull he was part of the Academic Professional Development Programme of the Institute for Educational Technology (OU-UK) and before that the Centre for Continuing Education at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He has also worked at both Exeter University and Oxford University in developmental roles.

Revolution and Pedagogy:
Why e-learning can still transform university teaching?

Lecturer will explore why the teaching conventions of the past 200 years endure in our online teaching and how new emerging technologies which Universities no longer control may offer the best hope for a radical improvement in the learning experience of our students
